Career and Technical Education Department offers students different opportunities!
Future Business Leaders of America enjoyed a trip to the Joint Leadership Conference at the BJCC in Birmingham on September 24, 2013.
Mock Interviews were a huge success with students practicing their interviewing skills. We appreciate the Alabama Department of Rehabilitation Services helping with this event. Five rehab counselors were here to act as interviewers for our students in Grades 9-12.

The Career Tech Department will be busy during the month of September. To start things off, our outstanding driver education teacher, Bert Haynes, was chosen as Sorenson's Teacher of the Year. Representatives from Sorenson will be on campus September 5, 2013 to video Mr. Haynes and his driver education program. We are very proud of him!!!! Homecoming Week is September 9-14 with many activities planned; dress up days, bonfire, dance, and game against the Indiana School for the Deaf. During that week is school picture day - Tuesday, September 10th.

We are excited in Career Tech about the new school year. Teachers have attended professional development workshops, conferences, seminars, and classes this summer and are refreshed and ready to go. We are eager to get started with the new course, Career Preparedness, for all Ninth graders and using Work Keys for job skills assessments; assessing our students for the ability to communicate, problem solve, teamwork, and personal skills. We will also be using Kuder Assessments to help with career exploration and career planning.
